Patient Perspectives on Parkinson’s Disease Care Revealed in Recent Survey
A recent patient survey conducted by the Parkinson & Movement Disorder Alliance (PMD) has shed light on the perspectives of Parkinson’s disease (PD) care from the patient’s point of view. The survey aimed to identify areas that require attention in order to improve the patient experience. Lori DePorter, a patient diagnosed with young-onset PD, attended the PMD Alliance’s congress and participated in the survey. The survey revealed key insights, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and support within PD care. In an interview with NeurologyLive®, DePorter discussed the concerns expressed by patients and suggested ways to address communication gaps between care teams. She also highlighted the benefits of community organizations, such as support groups, in enhancing patients’ PD care. This survey provides valuable insights into improving the quality of care for PD patients, taking into account their perspectives and experiences.
