Pulmonary rehabilitation found significantly effective in IPF patients

Pulmonary rehabilitation is an effective remedy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic lung disease which causes scar tissue to build up in the lungs, showed a real world study based in the UK. The study, published in the journal Chest, found that the patients experienced improved muscle health after pulmonary rehabilitation.

The pulmonary rehabilitation program uses a combination of exercise, education and behavioural intervention to help COPD patients gain better lung function. The researchers said that they analysed a group of 163 COPD patients from the Harefield Hospital, UK.
