SARS CoV-2 can spread to heart and brain within days of infection: NIH Study
SARS CoV-2 or the virus that causes COVID-19 can spread to the heart and brain within days of infection and can survive for months in organs, according to a new study by the National Institutes of Health, US. The NIH research, to be peer reviewed and published in Nature, studied the widely reported symptoms of ‘long Covid’, and found that the virus can spread to almost every organ system in the body, including heart and brain which leads to the long Covid syndrome. The study reviewed how the virus replicates in human cells and persists in the human body. Scientists have been working on the causes of ‘long Covid’ for a long time after the prevalence of the persisting disease, even after the patients tested negative after infection.
