People who survived severe Covid-19 infection had more than twice the risk of mortality than people who had a mild, moderate or no infection, revealed a study conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Florida. 

Dr. Arch Mainous, lead author of the study, said that they studied the mortality risk of 13,638 patients over 12 months and found that severe covid patients under 65 years of age had had a 233% increased chance of dying compared to the uninfected over the next year. They also highlighted their finding that only 20 percent of the patients who had severe COVID-19 died of typical disease complications such as blood clots or respiratory failure and that it is possible that their deaths were not connected to the infection.
