Even as erectile dysfunction as a major sexual health impact in male COPD patients is known, studies exploring other physical, psychological and social aspects of sexual health applicable to both sexes are limited, says a recent review. According to a systematic review by a team of researchers from Aarhus University Hospital Psychiatry, Denmark, most studies on this subject were only focused on the organic deficits such as ED. However, studies which do not limit disease outcomes to organic deficits are important to explore COPD impact on sexual health in patients and partners with the purpose of identifying the disease-specific areas that may have been overlooked so far.
