Significant lung alterations found as a long-term effect of Covid-19
Recent study by a team of scientists from the Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Cologne, and the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Lahn-Dill-Kliniken, Germany, found a significant association between Covid-19 and post-inflammatory emphysematous lung alterations. The researchers said that they analysed 32 patients with at least one follow-up CT to find that the emphysema volume was significantly larger as compared to the subgroup with a follow-up of at least 30 days. The team drew attention to the long-term effects of the COVID-19 infection and expressed hopes that their research would help the population identify this.
