Vaping products with unproven claims may aggravate health issues, warns US FDA

The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has warned that certain vaping products may aggravate health issues as they are sold illegally with unproven claims of health benefits or treatments. The drug regulator said that it hasn’t approved any vaping products to treat or prevent health conditions or diseases till date. The agency pointed out that there’s no way to know if these ‘wellness’ vaping products contain ingredients or impurities that may cause or make these symptoms worse, or cause permanent damage, such as bronchiolitis obliterans. The drug control agency also warned against increased instances of asthma, exacerbated COPD and lung infections in the off-chance that vaping products contain carcinogens and other harmful chemicals, adding that talking to a health professional would be of help before consuming the vaping product, especially when the product is backed by claims of “wellness or health benefits”.
