Vedolizumab Effective and Safe for Inducing and Maintaining Remission in Crohn’s Disease: Study Review

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the gastrointestinal tract. A study was conducted to find out whether vedolizumab, a medication that blocks an important protein involved in gut inflammation, is effective and safe in treating Crohn’s disease. The study found that vedolizumab is more effective than placebo in inducing and maintaining remission in Crohn’s disease, and as likely as placebo to cause side effects. However, there were limitations in comparing vedolizumab to placebo for serious and overall side effects due to low confidence in the results.
