Targeting the vulnerable for booster shots is best strategy: Oxford scientist
A strategy targeting the vulnerable population for booster shots could be the best way instead of announcing a third or fourth dose of Covid vaccination for the entire population. Professor Andrew Pollard, the Director of the Oxford Vaccine Group and head of the UK’s Committee on Vaccination and Immunization, said in a media interview on Tuesday that giving everyone in the world booster shots multiple times a year is not sustainable and feasible. Stressing the need for targeting the most vulnerable, Prof Pollard said that more data is needed to ascertain “whether, when and how often those who are vulnerable will need additional doses. It is better to decide the booster shots for these vulnerable populations rather than administering doses to everyone age 12 and older.“
