Critical care Nutrition is a specialized multidisciplinary practice. It is important to promote dietitians in this area to improve patient care, create research outcomes, and ensure that the critical care dietitian is the preferred nutrition support care provider. A certification in critical care nutrition would be beneficial to the profession and the future of clinical practice. The curriculum will coincide with nutrition standards and practice guidelines from American Society for parenteral and enteral nutrition and european society of parenteral and enteral nutrition, NICE and Indian Practice guidelines. This course will help dieticians and other healthcare professionals to understand the meaning of malnutrition, metabolic and nutritional consequences of malnutrition in critically ill patients,recognizing malnutrition in hospitals, risk factors of malnutrition, different types of nutritional screening and assessment, nutrition focused physical examination, understanding of EN, steps of EN, methods of EN, components of EN, monitoring and evaluation, importance of team work i.e multidisciplinary approach towards ICU care, introduction of different types of ICU equipment, introduction of different terms used in ICU care.
