WAIOT

The World Association against Infection in Orthopaedics and Trauma (WAIOT) is the first and the largest international, multi-disciplinary association focused on disseminating knowledge and awareness related to musculoskeletal and implant-related infections across the globe and networking all professionals interested in the field. The association, founded in Vienna, Austria, in May 2017, has a membership of approximately 1,500 physicians from 100 Countries. Annual congress, symposia and meetings are attended by internationally renowned faculty and include presentations and panel discussions on all aspects of musculoskeletal infections, including basic research, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, economic and social impacts. Bone and joint infections, and particularly haematogenous osteomyelitis and arthritis, tuberculosis, post-traumatic and post-surgical infections, diabetic foot, septic non-unions, peri-prosthetic joint infection affect tens of million patients worldwide and represent a growing social and economic burden both for the most and the less developed countries.
