Meet the Faculty
DR. PANKAJ DONGRE
Faculty, Cataract and Refractive Surgery, LVPEI, VisakhapatnamDr. Pankaj Dongre completed his primary medical education from Smolensk State Medical Academy, Russia, followed by post-graduation in Ophthalmology from Lotus Eye Hospital and Institute, Coimbatore. He then pursued a Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology from LVPEI, Visakhapatnam and received subspecialty training in Cataract and Refractive Services, Hyderabad. Dr Dongre's clinical interests include keratoconus, newer modifications in cataract surgery and intraocular lenses and LASIK surgery.
DR. ROHIT DUREJA
Faculty, Cornea and Anterior segment, LVPEI, VisakhapatnamDr. Rohit Dureja completed his primary medical education from the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and postgraduation in Ophthalmology from M & J Western Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (BJ Medical College), Ahmedabad. He then completed a two-year clinical fellowship in cornea and anterior segment at LVPEI Visakhapatnam and subsequently joined the institute as a Consultant Ophthalmologist. He is a fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO), the UK, a lifetime member of the All India Ophthalmology Society (AIOS) and Cornea Society of India (CSI). His clinical interests include infectious keratitis, corneal lamellar procedures and cataract surgery.
DR. PRIYANKA V. WALVEKAR
Faculty, Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery & Facial Aesthetics, Ocular Oncology, LVPEI, VisakhapatnamDr. Priyanka V. Walvekar completed her primary medical education from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, and her post-graduate training in ophthalmology from the Nethradhama Superspeciality Eye Hospital, Bangalore. Keenly interested in oculoplasty, she pursued a two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic surgery and ocular oncology from L V Prasad Eye Institute. She has presented at various forums and is also involved in academic activities. Her areas of interest include orbit, ophthalmic plastic surgery and dacryology.
DR. MEGHA GULATI
Faculty, Vitreoretina and Uveitis Services, LVPEI, VisakhapatnamDr. Megha Gulati completed her primary medical education from RCSM Government Medical College, Kolhapur followed by a post-graduation in Ophthalmology from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Patna. She then pursued a Fellowship in Vitreo-retina and Uveitis Services from LVPEI, Visakhapatnam. Her clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, surgical retina and retinopathy of prematurity.
DR. GOURA CHATTANNAVAR
Faculty, Strabismus, Pediatric and Neuro-ophthalmology, LVPEI, HyderabadDr. Goura Chattannavar completed her basic medical education from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore followed by residency training in ophthalmology from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. During her long-term clinical fellowship in strabismus, pediatric and neuro-ophthalmology at LVPEI, Hyderabad, she acquired clinical and surgical skills in managing children with cataract, refractive error, amblyopia and also strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology conditions. She has several publications to her name in peer-reviewed journals. She has a keen interest in clinical research in pediatric cataracts and their associations.
DR. GOWRI PRATINYA KOLIPAKA
Faculty, Glaucoma, LVPEI, HyderabadDr. Gowri Pratinya Kolipaka obtained her M.B.B.S degree from Mamata Medical College in 2012, and DNB (Ophthalmology) from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, where she was awarded the Gold Medal. She then pursued a long-term fellowship in Glaucoma at LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. She is consultant in the department of Glaucoma at LV Prasad Eye Institute. She is closely associated with academic training and research initiatives in the Department. Her areas of interests include secondary glaucomas and imaging in glaucoma.
