Dr. Srinivasan Ramachandran
Senior Research Analyst, Department of Bioengineering, University of California, San DiegoDr. Ramachandran is a biomedical scientist with a rare blend of knowledge and expertise in multiple disciplines, including Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Cell, Molecular & Systems Biology, and Medical Informatics. He obtained his MBBS from Stanley Medical College, Madras, M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Later he moved to the United States for his Post-Doc in Neuroscience at University of California, Santa Barbara. He has published more than sixty high-profile research publications in the last two decades, with 3000+ citations, an h-index of 31, and an i10-index of 44, and Co-author of four patents. In addition, he has made several original and pioneering contributions to biomedical imaging, technology development, neurodegenerative disorders, targeted drug delivery, and systems biology fields. He is a consultant to COMET Technologies, San Jose, in Atmospheric plasma and e-Beam applications in semiconductor fabrication and to DETECT Inc., Guilford, CT, on LED-based waveguide TIRFM reporter system. He is also CTO of iCgut Inc., a startup developing the Next Generation Wireless Capsule Endoscopy System.
Read More At present Dr. Ramachandran directs a F.A.I.R. framework for the next generation metabolomics workbench for enhanced interoperability and reusability of data across NIH repositories. He had devised a minimal clinical metadata schema encapsulated in an FHIR data model with metadata encoded in standard clinical ontologies, including SNOMED CT, RxNORM, and LOINC. This approach enables knowledge graphs by integrating the knowledge base (ontologies and axioms derived from metadata) with a reasoning engine (description logic) and continuous data integration via metadata schema.
