Milan Score Helps Diagnose GERD in Ambiguous Type 2 EGJ Cases

High-resolution manometry (HRM) classifies EGJ morphology into three types, with type 2 being less clearly linked to GERD. A recent study of 535 patients found that the HRM-based Milan Score effectively predicts GERD risk in type 2 EGJ. Scores ≥137 indicate high GERD risk (similar to type 3), while scores <137 resemble type 1 (low risk). This tool could improve GERD diagnosis and guide treatment decisions for patients with inconclusive EGJ findings.
