Effectiveness of PPI Therapy in Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Associated with Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

A study of 126 patients with both Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease (LPRD) found that 8 weeks of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy significantly improved symptoms. ETDQ-7, RSI, and RFS scores all decreased, suggesting a link between reflux and ETD. However, persistent symptoms in some cases highlight ETD’s multifactorial nature, indicating that additional treatments beyond PPIs may be necessary for comprehensive management.
