Efficacy and Safety of Pantoprazole Alone Versus Pantoprazole-Amitriptyline Combination in Functional Dyspepsia: A Randomized Controlled Tria

A randomized, open-label study compared pantoprazole alone with pantoprazole plus Antidepressants in functional dyspepsia patients. After 4 weeks of treatment, the combination group showed significantly greater improvement in Glasgow Dyspepsia Severity Score, SF-LDQ, and VAS scores compared to pantoprazole alone (p<0.01). No major safety concerns were reported. Overall, adding low-dose amitriptyline to pantoprazole was more effective in relieving functional dyspepsia symptoms, supporting its use in patients with inadequate response to proton pump inhibitor monotherapy.   References: DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.18203/2319-2003.ijbcp20250486
