The latest research conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) re-emphasised the close links between eczema and other health conditions including hay fever, asthma, food allergies, alopecia, chronic urticaria, osteoporosis and even mental health disorders. The study, led by Dr Dawn Davis, a dermatologist at the Mayo Clinic, and his colleagues, pointed out the need for whole-person care instead of just focusing on skin conditions in case of eczema. The study findings, which have also been presented in a patient/doctor guideline to empower patients as well as the medical community to help patients better address their skin needs.
