Immunoregulatory role of IL-3 in allergic asthma
The pro-inflammatory protein IL-3 plays a very significant role in regulating allergic asthma and targeting this protein could open up new therapeutic ways against the condition, reveals a recent research by a team of researchers at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany, led by Dr Susetta Finotto and Susanne Krammer. The researchers wrote in the study, published in the journal Frontiers in Immunology, that the protein induced g T regulatory cell response and reduced the proliferation of type 2 innate lymphoid cells, suggesting further investigations on the regulatory and potential protective role of IL-3 in asthma.
