Duke University study on ivermectin may offer accurate analysis of the drug’s potential to treatment Covid -19

Amid recent controversies on the usage of ivermectin as a treatment against Covid-19, the ongoing study by a team of researchers from the Duke University, London, is expected to provide an accurate analysis. Adrian Hernandez, one of the study leaders and a cardiologist at Duke University, said that the previous studies analysing the efficacy of the drug was not large enough and that large-scale evidence is necessary as the drug has been used extensively to kill parasites in animals, including gastrointestinal worms in horses and cows. Dr Hernandez pointed out that their research is important since patients and caretakers have resorted to the drug even after multiple warnings from the US Food and Drug Administration, adding that their new research also focuses on 2 other drugs under ACTIV-6, studying the potential treatments against coronavirus.
