Leicester study to examine COVID-19 effects on human brain and heart
A new study led by the National Institute for Health Research with support from the Leicester Biomedical Research Centre will look into how much Covid-19 damages human brains and lungs. The researchers said that they will use MRI scans of the participants, along with health records and blood tests, to compare the organs of those who have had Covid-19 and those who have not. Dr Ranjit Arnold, who is leading the study, pointed out that their research, called COSMIC study, will take into account risk factors including the patients’ age, socioeconomic background, and whether they have other health conditions.
