New American Heart Association guideline for chronic coronary disease aims to help prevent and manage disease

The American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Joint Committee on Clinical Practice Guidelines has produced a new guideline for the care of patients with persistent coronary disease. The policy prioritizes team-based treatment, patient education, and collaborative decision-making. It offers advice on healthy lifestyle choices such as nutrition, exercise, mental health, alcohol and cigarette usage, and sexual health. The guidelines were created in partnership with a number of organizations and were published in Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. According to Dr. Salim S. Virani, vice provost for research at Aga Khan University in Pakistan and chair of the writing committee, this guideline is a standalone document based on the most recent evidence, rather than an update.
