NHS England for advanced stop-smoking services
NHS England and Improvement, an executive non-departmental public body that helps improve care for patients and provide leadership, announced that pharmacies in England will commence offering an advanced smoking cessation service. With this, pharmacies will be able to register for the service which will connect patients looking to drop their smoking habit with a local pharmacy. Medical experts and practitioners have explained that this move will help underprivileged communities where smokers are likely to receive minimal help to overcome addiction. NHS England explained that patients undergoing de-addiction in hospitals and consent to be part of the ongoing program will be referred to a participating pharmacy of their choice for continued support in the community.
