Probiotics, oral immunotherapy against peanut allergy

A combination of probiotics and oral immunotherapy or just oral immunotherapy on its own can successfully be used in treating children’s peanut allergy. According to a recent study conducted by the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, oral immunotherapy, a gradual introduction of the triggering food into the infants’ diet as prescribed by an expert, allowed children to go into remission and be desensitised to peanuts. 51 percent of children who participated in the study with this treatment went into remission and were able to eat peanuts.
