As of now, COVID-19 has affected about 11,965,938 people all around the world. It has been over 6 months that we are living in a completely different world where life isn’t the same as it used to be in 2019 and before. While the whole awaits a vaccine as it is their only ticket to resume normal lives again. But most experts believe that a full working vaccine won’t be ready until 2021. So for a while now we’ll be living with coronavirus pandemic for a long time now. People need to be ready and accept this fate as they began their quarantine life and start living with the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be required to change their expectations and behavior and reset them according to the rules of coronavirus pandemic.
Matters are getting more complicated as the situation is different in every neighborhood, let alone country to country. This is because the severity of the outbreaks differs in every neighborhood, and also the effectiveness of testing, contact tracing, social distancing norms, hospital systems, and public-health measures. A brutal hit to mental health due to feeling alone and isolated is affecting people very differently. The fatigue of doctors, hospitals, and frontline workers will seem to change the scenario of the pandemic in the future. The ability to coexist with SARS-CoV-2 will increasingly depend on how individuals assess risks and take decisions.
At the beginning of this pandemic event, when coronavirus first showed itself in the countries, governments worldwide resorted to emergency measures such as compulsory closures of businesses, stay-at-home laws, and bans on large gatherings. The movements stopped the infection, saved lives, and allowed members time to store medical supplies and equipment. However, this came at the cost of the downfall of the world economy, unemployment breaking the charts, and trillions of dollars loss. This scared the biggest economy holders as they then took the decision to reopen while changing the working patterns. However, countries like China and the USA who started everything again saw a resurgence in cases with double people being affected more than before.
Without a vaccine in existence, countries are doing their best with contact monitoring and targeted quarantines to contain the virus. Testing is essential and many countries have not yet adequately increased their capacity to detect outbreaks while they are still small enough to bottle up. All that can be done now is strictly following the norms given by government and health advisories while waiting up the pandemic to end. So the future of humanity in 2020 and might be even in 2021 will be living with COVID-19.
