A protocol on Post COVID Management was released on Sunday by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The procedure offers a holistic, comprehensive approach to care at home for COVID patients and is not intended to be used as preventive / curative therapy. It also notes that for those who have recovered from a more serious type of the disease and those with a pre-existing disease, the recovery time is likely to be longer. In order to promote quicker recovery of the health of healed COVID 19 patients, the procedure is also noteworthy for the implementation of various AYUSH healthcare methods. COVID 19 is a new disease and new knowledge about its natural history, especially in terms of post-recovery events, is being reported on a daily basis. In terms of post-recovery, active research is being conducted to discover all of the disease-related knowledge. Patients recovering from acute COVID 19 disease have continued to experience a number of symptoms such as fatigue, cough, core throat, etc. as of now.
On an person basis, the Post-COVID follow-up protocol recommends continued proper use of masks, hand and respiratory hygiene, physical distance, etc. Once administered by a certified AYUSH practitioner, adequate consumption of hot water and immunity that promotes AYUSH medicine is recommended. Mild / moderate exercises such as Yogasana, Pranayama, Meditation are to be done as recommended regularly when walking at a relaxed pace in the morning or evening as tolerated. In addition to this, the protocol recommends that a healthy, easy to digest and freshly prepared nutritious diet be eaten. An individual should take advantage of community-based self-help organisations, trained counsellors, etc. at the community level for the recovery and rehabilitation process. If the patient who has undergone home isolation reports of recurrent symptoms, the doctor also discusses visiting the nearest health facility.
In accordance with the guidelines already provided by the AYUSH Ministry, immunity supporting AYUSH medicine is recommended at the individual level, subject to consultation with a competent practitioner. These include the Ayush Kwath, the Samshamanivati, Giloy powder with lukewarm water, Ashwagandha, and Chyawanprash, traditional or simple preparations. Other suggestions include fruit from Amla, powder from Mulethi and Haldi milk.
