Worsening heart failure (WHF) is a rare and under-diagnosed condition that results in reduced cardiac function. It is often triggered by repeated events, leading to emergency department visits and hospitalization. Despite being included in guidelines, there is no precise definition of WHF. Treatment optimization is needed, including guideline-directed medical therapy and novel drugs like a stimulator of soluble guanylate cyclase. This document is based on expert opinions from cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and physicians on WHF definition, assessment, pharmacological management, and monitoring in hospitalized and outpatient settings.
